Our (True) Story
The story of Timber began, literally, in the trees and on the running trails of the local dog park in Edmonton. Timber’s co-founders Darcy and Susie were at a turning point in their lives. Having both run large, high-pressure companies in the past they were ready to pivot and create a purposeful and values-driven business model that does good and improves the lives of Canadians.
Like many people around them, they have also felt the impact of over-stressed workplaces and mental health challenges on staff and their own families.
Over countless runs, the same three questions kept them going:
- What if we could use employee benefits to help people stay healthy, not just for when they get sick?
- How can we use benefits as a way to help support staff’s mental health AND physical wellness?
- And most importantly, why hasn’t this industry changed to support the needs of a more modern workforce?
Timber Benefits was created to answer these very important questions.
As employer needs continue to evolve the Timber story will also grow and change as well.
